About Future Loop Foundation

An ambient-inspired jungle producer more intent on recording solid full-lengths than jump-up singles, Mark Barrott recorded for Planet Dog Records, known more for its crusty psychedelic trance than breakbeat futurism. Barrott, born in Sheffield, played piano as a child and became intrigued with synthesizers. He had a rudimentary home-studio setup by the early '90s, after acid-house, ambient, and the first wave of jungle had made successive waves in England. Barrott began recording downtempo drum'n'bass in 1995, and signed to Planet Dog in the hopes that he'd have more of a chance to release full-lengths. The following year brought his first, Time & Bass, and the LP was licensed to America as well. Later in 1996, Barrott composed music for VH1's Worldwide Fashion Awards. He also assembled a Future Loop Foundation live show, which played at Talvin Singh's Anokha club and toured with Planet Dog's package Megadog. He also recorded the first session for Radio One's One in the Jungle show, and released his second LP Conditions for Living in 1998. With a new addition to the fold, none other than Planet Dog-head Michael Dog, Barrott returned in 2000 with Phunk Roc. ~ John Bush
